Adding multiple languages to your Customer Portal

If you serve customers in multiple countries, you can translate your Customer Portal into additional languages by adding locales. Each locale has its own set of articles, so you can fully customize the content for each language — not just translate it word for word.

Adding a new locale

  1. Go to Customer Portal → Content → Languages.

  3. Select the language you want to add from the dropdown.

  4. Click Save.

Your new locale will now appear as an option when switching portals.

Writing articles in a new language

Once a locale is added, you can create translated (or language-specific) articles for it:

  1. On the Customer Portal main page, click the Switch portal button and select your new locale.
  2. You're now editing in the context of that language. Create or edit articles here just as you would in your default language.
  3. Articles you create in this locale will only appear to customers browsing in that language.

How customers switch languages

If your portal has multiple locales, customers will see a language selector on the portal homepage. They can use it to switch between available languages.

Tips

  • You don't need to translate every article immediately — start with your most-viewed content and expand from there.
  • Keep article structures consistent across languages so customers who switch between them have a familiar experience.
  • Use the views count on each article to prioritize what to translate first.
