Add your Outlook / Microsoft inbox

Connect a Microsoft 365 or Outlook mailbox to Commslayer using Standard setup. No daily sending limits.

Time required: about 10 minutes

Setting up something more specific?

Before you start

  • Admin access to your Microsoft 365 account
  • Access to your domain's DNS settings
  • An email address on your own domain, with a mailbox you can forward from

Step 1: Create your inbox and add DNS records

Come back here once your records have verified.

Step 2: Enable external forwarding

Microsoft 365 blocks external forwarding by default. Nothing reaches Commslayer until you turn it on.

Step 3: Redirect your mail to Commslayer

  1. Sign in to Outlook on the web

  2. Go to Settings → Mail → Rules

  3. Create a new rule: apply to all messages → Redirect to → paste your Commslayer forwarding address

  4. Check Stop processing more rules

  5. Save the rule

Use Redirect, not Forward. Redirect keeps the original sender's details, which is what lets Commslayer match the conversation to the right customer.

Step 4: Test

Send a test email to your support address from a different account. It should arrive in Commslayer within a minute or two.

Only new mail forwards — your existing history isn't imported.

Microsoft quirks

  • "Your organization does not allow external forwarding" (550 5.7.520) means the outbound spam policy in step 2 didn't save. Go back and check it.

  • If your DNS is managed inside Microsoft 365, your records live under Settings → Domains → your domain → DNS records.
