How to enable AI social media comment moderation

Auto-moderation hides unwanted comments on your Facebook, Instagram and TikTok posts and ads as they come in. It is one setting for the whole account and covers every Page and account you've connected to Commslayer. You can review hidden comments and unhide them. Auto-moderation is included in paid plans.

Switch it on

  1. Go to Settings → Channels → Auto-moderation
  2. Switch on Auto-hide inappropriate comments

The switch can't be turned on until a Meta inbox is connected. On the Free plan it is locked.

To review hidden comments, open Comments → Hidden in the left sidebar. To show a comment on the post again, open it and click Unhide.

What gets hidden

With Auto-hide inappropriate comments on, AI reads every new comment and hides:

  • Negativity and complaints: criticism, mockery, warnings to other people, and dissatisfaction that doesn't ask for help
  • Profanity, hate speech and personal attacks
  • Spam and advertising
  • Comments with a link
  • Mentions of competitors

When it is unsure, it hides the comment. The categories can't be switched on or off one by one, so check Comments → Hidden regularly and unhide what you want to keep. A hidden complaint can still be a customer waiting for an answer. Use Reply via DM to answer it privately.

Only new comments are checked. Comments from before you switched it on stay as they are.

Manual keywords

Under Manual keywords (optional) on the same page, add words that should hide a comment every time, such as competitor names.

  • Type one or more keywords, separated by commas, and click Add
  • A comment is hidden when it contains the keyword anywhere in its text. Upper and lower case don't matter, and a short keyword also matches inside longer words
  • All keywords together can be up to 2,000 characters. The limit is the same on every paid plan
  • Keywords work on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok comments
  • Keywords keep hiding comments when Auto-hide inappropriate comments is switched off. Remove a keyword to stop it

To test, comment on one of your posts from another profile using a keyword, then look in Comments → Hidden.

Common problems

Comments on one Page aren't moderated

Auto-moderation covers the Pages and accounts connected to Commslayer. Comments on a Page you haven't connected, such as a partner's Page that runs your ads, don't reach Commslayer and can't be hidden.

A comment wasn't hidden

AI decides per comment and can leave one visible. Hide it yourself: open the comment and click Hide. For words that must be hidden every time, add a manual keyword.
